The UK Energy sector faces many changes:
• Decommissioning of many of the nuclear facilities and north sea oil platforms
• Introduction of sustainable fossil fuel free sources of energy
• Targets to be attained for the transformation from fossil fuel sources of energy to sustainable renewable energy.
The newly formed National Decommissioning Authority (NDA) was formed on 1/4/05 and will oversee the massive £50bn problem of decommissioning some of the UK's civil nuclear legacy. This project will run for 15-20 years. As we see wind farms developing like mass daffodil plantations we realise that this is one of the ways the UK is likely to meet its strict target in this heavily legislates sector.
